Op vrijdag 12 januari 2007 begon Joshua Bell te spelen op zijn Stradivarius van drieënhalf miljoen dollar in een metrostation in Washington D.C. tijdens het spitsuur: niemand stopte om naar hem te luisteren. Hoeveel haast moeten mensen hebben gehad om niet even stil te staan bij zo'n schoonheid?
In een uitvoering met werken geschreven voor fluitkwartet en kwintet - waaronder enkele van hedendaagse componisten - zullen de NLF-uitvoerders het publiek meenemen in een psychologische en sensorische ervaring, waarbij de rol van het kader en de aandacht in de kunst in vraag wordt gesteld.

On Friday, January 12, 2007, Joshua Bell began to play on his three-and-a-half-million-dollar Stradivarius in a Washington D.C. metro station during rush hour: nobody stopped to listen to him. How much of a hurry must people have been in to not slow down in front of such beauty?
In a performance featuring works written for flute quartet and quintet - among which some by contemporary composers -, the NLF performers will take the audience into a psychological and sensorial experience, questioning the role in art of the frame and attention.
